Anthony M Skates

Anthony's work is noted for creating striking landscapes of Monmouthshire and the Wye Valley. His use of intense colour is popular with art lovers across the UK and internationally.

My work is a modern interpretation of the landscape of Monmouthshire in particular and of Wales and the Welsh Marches in general. It takes the form of images which reflect the changing form and colour of the local landscape. This concentration upon the natural environment is particularly evidenced by my ongoing work to capture the forests of the Lower Wye Valley.

The paintings I produce are notable for their rich use of colour and sense of place and their concentrated examination of locations through the production of multiple works. A further key theme within my work is the relation of the rich historical and archaeological remains to be found within the county of Monmouthshire and their relation to and place within the local environment.

Anthony is able to work to specfic commissions. In recent years he has completed a number of commissions for private clients focussing on Forest of Dean and Urban Landscapes.
